The New Brunswick provincial government sets out the following rules for operating an ATV under the Off-Road Vehicle Act:
- Safety training. Off-road drivers who are under 16 years of age must have a safety training certificate. If you are over 16 but overseeing a young person who is operating the machine, you also must have safety training.
- Age Requirements. The provincial act has also set a schedule of age limits for operating various types and sizes of off-road vehicles.
Watercraft LAw and regulations in New Brunswick
To operate a boat or personal watercraft (PWC) in New Brunswick, you must meet requirements set out by the provincial and federal governments.
- Proof of competency. This documentation can be a Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC). If you have proof of completing a boating safety course before April 1, 1999, this document is also acceptable.
- Life preservers. Your watercraft must have enough correctly-fitting life jackets or personal flotation devices onboard for every passenger.
- Special age-related restrictions. Watercraft operators younger than 16 are subject to limitations regarding the size and power of watercraft they may operate. They are not allowed to operate a PWC like a Jet Ski or Sea-Doo under any conditions.
